Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions in Livestock Farming
Abstract
Livestock farming is a significant contributor to global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, primarily through methane (CH₄), nitrous oxide (N₂O), and carbon dioxide (CO₂). These emissions have adverse effects on climate change and environmental sustainability. This article reviews various strategies, technologies, and practices aimed at reducing GHG emissions from livestock farming. Key approaches include dietary modifications, manure management, grazing management, technological innovations, and policy interventions. The article further explores the effectiveness of these methods and their potential for widespread implementation. The goal is to promote sustainable practices that can mitigate the environmental impact of livestock farming while ensuring food security and economic viability.
